Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini was Born on October 21, 1995, in the Tarzana neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, into an artistic family. She is half South African and half Jewish.
Her father Dumisani Dlamini, is a South African actor, composer, and film director of Zulu ethnicity. He is best known for starring as Crocodile in the original Boardway cast of the musical Sarafina! and the 1992 film adaptation. Her mother is Deborah Elizabeth Sawyer and she is a Jewish-American painter.
