Dame Joanna Lamond Lumley is a British actress, author, activist, and former model who was born on May 1, 1946. She was nominated for a 2011 Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play for the production of La Bête. She has won two BAFTA TV Awards for her role as Patsy Stone in the BBC sitcom Absolutely Fabulous (1992–2012).

Early Life and Career Beginning
At the end of the British Raj, Joanna Lamond Lumley was born in 1946 in Srinagar, India. Her father, Major James Rutherford Lumley, was born in India and had Scottish and English ancestry, while her mother, Thyra Beatrice Rose, was English.
