On June 21, 1985, Elizabeth Woolridge Grant was born in Manhattan, New York City. Her parents are Patricia Ann “Pat” (née Hill), an account executive at Grey Group, and Robert England Grant, Jr., a copywriter at Grey Group. She has a younger brother named Charlie and a younger sister named Caroline.

Del Rey’s family relocated to the upstate New York town of Lake Placid when she was a year old. Lana’s mother was a schoolteacher whereas her father had worked for a furniture company before going on to become an entrepreneurial domain investor.

She was raised in Lake Placid, New York, and went to a Catholic elementary school there. When Lana was younger, an interest in music led her to join the church choir. She composed country music as well. Lana’s parents were compelled to enroll “At Kent School,” where their uncle worked as an admissions officer, Because of severe alcoholism during her teenage years.
