Early Life

The first record that Woods ever bought was the debut album by Mike Jones. Later, he started listening to music by Meek Mill, Paramore, Marilyn Manson, Wiz Khalifa, and Ying Yang Twins. Finally all of whom had an impact on his style in the future. When he started rapping in the tenth grade. He heard a classmate do a freestyle over a remixed Chris Brown instrumental. 

Steaktown is the name of the rap group he and two mates founded. After leaving high school, Woods began working at a Bottom Dollar grocery shop. He quit after four days, at which point his mother forbade him from being in the house.  Finally, gave him the motivation he needed to begin focusing on his rapping career.

Career 

Woods took on the moniker Lil Uzi Vert after hearing someone refer to his lyrical style as “fast, like a machine gun.” Woods released “Purple Thoughtz Vol 1,” his debut EP, on January 19, 2014. The Guardian described the production as “trippy” and psychedelic. 

Following the album’s release, Don Cannon, a producer, and ASAP Mob were interested in Woods. He was recruited by Cannon to his The Academy label, and in August 2014, he released his debut mixtape, “The Real Uzi.” Following his signing to Atlantic Records, Uzi collaborated with Rich the Kid and ASAP Ferg on Carnage‘s song “WDYW.”

Uzi also participated in Fall Out Boy and Wiz Khalifa‘s “Boys of Summer” tour in August 2017 and posted several tracks produced by Metro Boomin on SoundCloud. Released on October 20, 2015, “Luv is Rage” is his second mixtape. HotNewHipHop referred to Woods as a “breakout artist of 2015“.

Uzi posted the tune “Money Longer” to his SoundCloud in 2016. On the Billboard Hot 100, the single peaked at No. 54 after debuting at No. 92. It was certified 2x Platinum. A ruckus broke out after Woods’s set at SXSW in March 2016. “Lil Uzi Vert vs. the World,” Uzi’s third mixtape and first to be published for sale, was released the following month. It lasted 55 weeks at No. 37 on the Billboard 200 list, where it made its debut. Finally, the record was certified Gold. In May 2016, he teamed up with Kodak Black for the Parental Advisory Tour. That summer, Uzi was selected as one of the 10 XXL Freshmen for 2016.

“You Was Right” was Uzi’s second entry on the Billboard 200 chart; it peaked at No. 40 after making its debut at No. 89 in July 2016. In November of 2016, he and Gucci Mane released a collaborative mixtape. He made an appearance in Migos’ August 2016 release of “Bad and Boujee”. Uzi’s recently announced second studio album, “Eternal Atake,” was released in December 2019. “Futsal Shuffle 2020” is the first song off the album. On March 6, 2020, “Eternal Awake” was released one week early. When the album debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 and racked up 400 million streams in the first half of 2020, it became the highest-streaming album since 2008.

Following the passing of rapper Lil Peep, Uzi declared he was giving up drugs and making an effort to live sober. Following the passing of friend and fellow rapper XXXTentacion, Woods resorted to social media to beg other artists to assist in laying the groundwork for a foundation against gun violence.

Early in 2023, Lil Uzi Vert made headlines when he showed off a fresh face tattoo and a cross tattoo on his tongue. The rapper explained that he doesn’t believe in the devil or religion after being accused of being a Satanist in the past.
