Owen and Wes Anderson

Bottle Rocket, based on a short film screened at the Sundance Film Festival, was Wilson and Anderson’s debut feature film collaboration. Wilson and his two brothers relocated to Hollywood soon after. He went on to co-write three further films with Anderson while there, including Rushmore (1998), The Royal Tenenbaums (2001), and The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou (2004). Tenenbaums received the duo an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay, and Wilson also appeared in the picture as well as Life Aquatic.

Net Worth

Owen Wilson has an estimated net worth of $70 million. This big fortune was obtained through his ranged services to the film industry. Over the years, Owen has put his money into a very profitable real estate portfolio. Owen has many properties in the Los Angeles area, including a beach house in Malibu and a big, double-lot property in Santa Monica.

Wilson purchased two adjacent parcels of land (one of which is coastal) on the Hawaiian island of Maui in 2007. In 2012, he purchased a 1,980-square-foot home in Los Angeles’ Westdale area. Owen Wilson expanded his portfolio in 2014 by purchasing a home in Los Angeles’ Pacific Palisades district.

Wilson’s career advanced significantly in the year 2000 when he co-starred in the Western Shanghai Noon with Jackie Chan. On a budget of roughly $55 million, the film earned excellent reviews and grossed a solid $100 million at the box office. Another huge break came with a leading role in Zoolander, a picture that grossed $60 million at the box office in 2001. Wilson subsequently shifted gears and starred in the action flick Behind Enemy Lines, which grossed more than $92 million despite garnering mixed reviews.

Wilson has also acted in several big-budget films with comedy actor (and good friend) Ben Stiller, including Meet the Parents (2000) and its two sequels, and Starsky & Hutch (2004). Personal Troubles

Owen was brought to the hospital from his Santa Monica, California residence on August 26, 2007, after a call for medical aid was made. According to police reports, they reacted to a suicide attempt. Wilson issued a statement from the hospital requesting seclusion so that he could “receive care and heal in private during this difficult time.” He was visited in the hospital by family and friends, including Wes Anderson and Woody Harrelson. Wilson returned to his family less than a week later.

Wilson postponed many engagements and withdrew from Tropic Thunder (2008).
