Thandiwe Newton Charity Work

Newton wrote a preface for the book of children’s writing called We Wish Hopes and Dreams of Cornwall’s Children, which came out in 2006 to raise money for the NSPCC. Her childhood memories of Cornwall and how its rich cultural history helped her “enrich every situation with layers of magic and meaning” were in it. 

It turned out to be a “humbling experience” for Newton to visit the poor town of Nampasso in Mali in 2008. Newton had taken charge of the One Billion Rising flash mob in London in 2013 that wanted justice, equal rights for women, and an end to abuse.
