How Was Al Pacino’s Childhood and Early Life?

Al Pacino was born on April 25, 1940, in East Harlem, New York City. Al’s parents were Sicilian Italian-American parents, and he was the only child. His father’s name is Salvatore Pacino and his mother is Rose. His parents divorced when he was two years old. Pacino’s father moved to California. He was raised by his mother and grandparents in the South Bronx.

In his teenage, his friends used to call him “Sonny”. He wanted to become a baseball player. “The Actor” was another nickname given to him. He joined Herman Ridder Junior High School but he failed nearly all subjects except English, He dropped out of the school at the age of 17, but his mother did not like the decision, and after an argument, he left home.

In order to finance his acting studies, Picano took low-paying jobs such as messenger, busboy, janitor, and postal clerk. During this time he also started acting in basement plays in New York’s Theatrical Underground but was rejected for the Actors Studio.
