How was the early life of Kevin Bacon?
In Philadelphia, Bacon was born and raised in a close-knit family. Of the six children, he is the youngest. As an urban planner and executive director of the Philadelphia City Planning Commission, his father Edmund Bacon (1910–2005) wrote the influential book Design of Cities. His mother Ruth Hilda (1916–1991) was a liberal activist and an elementary school teacher.
During his middle and high school years, Bacon attended the Julia R. Masterman School located in the Spring Garden neighborhood of Philadelphia.
