How was the early life of Trevor Noah?

Trevor Noah was born on February 20, 1984, in Johannesburg, Transvaal (now Gauteng), South Africa. Robert is the name of his father and is Swiss-German, and Patricia Nombuyiselo Noah is his mother and is Xhosa.

In his autobiography, Noah said how his parents’ interracial relationship was illegal at the time of his birth. When the Immorality Act was changed in 1985, a year after his birth, interracial relationships and marriages were made legal.

In the Johannesburg suburb of Maryvale, Gauteng, Noah started his education at Maryvale College, a private Roman Catholic elementary and high school.

Trevor Noah career

When Trevor Noah was just a teenager, he started his career in show business. He appeared in a brief cameo on an episode of the well-liked South African soap opera “Isidingo” in 2002 when he was 18. At the same time, he started hosting his youth-oriented radio program called “Noah’s Ark.” From 2004 to 2006, he hosted the educational TV series “Run The Adventure“.

After that, he started getting endorsement deals. 2010 for example, he was appointed consumer protection agent and spokesperson for South African cellular provider Cell C. He has maintained his distinctive style on the stand-up stage throughout his career, sharing the stage with comedians such as Russell Peters, Paul Rodriguez, and Gabriel Iglesias.

It was announced on March 30, 2015, that Trevor Noah will take over as host of “The Daily Show”. After that, he received many awards for his work on the program and got a 2017 Primetime Emmy Award nominee.

Trevor Noah has also found work as a television producer. He developed “The Opposition with Jordan Klepper” and “Klepper” on Comedy Central with Jordan Klepper, a former fellow “Daily Show” correspondent. Additionally, he executive produced “Jefferson County: Probation,” a show created by Roy Wood, Jr., another “Daily Show” correspondent.

Noah personal life

Probably the only well-known American talk show host who speaks eight different languages, including English, Xhosa, Zulu, Sotho, Tswana, Tsonga, Afrikaans, and German, is Trevor Noah. His mother was shot in the head by her ex-husband, Ngisaveni Abel Shingange.

These were very unpleasant circumstances when he first traveled to America from South Africa. Considering that Noah’s mother amazingly survived the shooting, Shingange was found guilty of attempted murder in 2011.

“For years my mother reached out to police for help with domestic abuse, and nothing was ever done,” he said, expressing his hope that the incident would bring attention to the problem of domestic violence in South Africa and the law enforcement response—or lack thereof. In South Africa, this is the norm. There were missing dockets and no court came for the cases.

In May 2021, Noah gave a virtual speech on Class Day to the Princeton University Class of 2021 and was inducted as an honorary member.
